Jabbasport Antil Roll Bar Fitting

Tools you will need are –

Trolley Jack
2 Axle Stands
13mm Spanner and/or Socket
16mm Spanner and/or Socket

Method –

I will assume that you have observed all safety precautions regarding jacking up your car including applying the handbrake, putting it in gear and chocking the front wheels.

The way that you jack up the car is of your own choice however it is imperative that the car’s rear suspension be in the normal road going position prior to fitting the Anti Roll Bar, in this guide I will obviously describe the method I use.

You will see from the pictures below that the car is supported by two axle stands under the rear suspension spring cups.

The kit is supplied with round two straps which are intended to go around the rear beam which isn’t round!! This can be a little tricky however I have found that if you tighten the straps and shape them around the beam before you try fit the bar on it will make it a lot easier.

You can see from these pictures that I have not used the supplied cap washer at this point but I have used a thin washer just to protect the strap while it is tightened and stretched

The Anti Roll Bar is also fitted to the lower shock absorber mountings so you’ll need to remove these bolts. These will simply undo and pull out allowing the shock absorber to drop slightly – This isn’t a problem.

Place the Anti Roll Bar under the car and attach it to the lower shock absorber mountings using the bolts you previously removed, do not tighten these yet. It is also important to try and leave yourself enough clearance around the axle stands so that you can swing the bar up into position.

Now you need to assemble the polyurethane bushes onto the bar. Remember to put some of the grease inside the bush before you wrap it onto the Anti Roll Bar. I like to fit cable ties to keep the bush in position however this is not endorsed by Jabba.

With the polyurethane bushes fitted to the Anti Roll Bar you can now swing the bar up into place and align the bushes to the correct positions on the rear beam. I tend to place them around 80mm from the bend in the Anti Roll Bar. Once you have the Anti Roll Bar positioned on the rear beam you can wrap the straps around it, don’t forget the metal saddles over the polyurethane bushes and the cap washers for the straps.

Once you have tightened the two metal straps you can then tighten the two bolts on the lower shock absorber mountings and that is you finished.

Lower the car to the ground and go for a test drive. I know you have just added a fantastic suspension upgrade to your car but you have also just undone some bolts on your suspension, take it easy for a while and remember that you don’t become a racing driver over night so learn how the car handles differently and adapt your driving style accordingly.
