PAS Sensor Change
Here is a brief guide to replacing the troublesome early type Fabia Power Steering Sensor.
To start remove the nearside bumper grill trims and fog light if fitted. Now peer the though the hole and you will see the front of the PAS pump and it’s control unit. The connector on the right is for the Power Steering Sensor, unplug this and poke the wiring back past the pump mounting bracket.
For the next part the vehicle will need to be up in the air enough so that you can get to the back of the sub frame.
Follow the wiring back along the nearside chassis leg through several clips and retainers. the wiring then follows back along the steering rack.
Keep following the wiring across to the column end of the rack to the Power Steering Sensor itself.
This is the Power Steering Sensor, it is held in with two 4mm allen screws, one top and one bottom, undo these and pop the sensor out, then throw it on the floor and stamp on it (unless its an exchange part of course).
Now fit the new type metal Power Steering Sensor in all its spanglyness and tighten up the two retaining screws.
Feed the wiring loom back around to the front of the car clipping it in to the retainers along the way and reconnect it to the pump.
Put the car back together and clear the fault codes with VAG COM (address 44) and enjoy your new found power steering.
