SEAT Ibiza PD160 Intake Pipe - Credit to Joff for compiling the info and pictures

In this section you will learn about the advantages of fitting the larger PD160 Air Intake and how to fit one. The images are 'clicky' and will open a larger image in a new window.

So what's it all about?

This mod uses an air intake pipe from the Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.9 TDi 160bhp (aka PD160 engine). This larger intake pipe will fit all Fabia TDi models and connects the cold air feed on the slam panel to the air box.

In comparison (see photos below) the Fabia pipe on the left, in this case a vRS version, is nearly half the diameter of the SEAT part. The theory behind this is that the more air you can get into your engine, the better the combustion and in turn performance. SEAT obviously thought it was necessary with the PD160 engine, so for a Fabia vRS with a remap it's pretty much essential if you are using the standard air box.

Parts you will need are -

Trumpet - 6LL 129 621 (Available From SEAT Dealers £14.91)
Pipe - 6LL 129 618 (Available From SEAT Dealers £24.11)

Tools you will need are -

Phillips Screwdriver
Flat Blade Screwdriver

Method -

Firstly you will need to remove your existing air intake from the car. Open the bonnet and remove the small phillips head screw near the air box and pull the pipe out of the air box and then out of the trumpet. Next, using the flat blade screwdriver, prise in the four tabs (two on the top and one each side) whilst gently pulling the trumpet from the holder.

Now push the new trumpet into the holder and ensure the four tabs lock in. Take the new intake pipe and fit that into the trumpet and then push it into the air box, replace the screw and admire your new air intake. The new larger intake is a tighter fit but rest assured it does fit and works well.
